Gone Fishin’

Jessie and I went fishing (also known as angling) recently with her grandparents on their new pontoon boat. Her grandfather (also known as grandaddy) had gone out with her grandmother (also known as gommie) a day or so before to scope out some fishing spots. We arrived at the dock and I immediately lost my reel and the bottom half of my rod in the lake. The water was over 35 feet in that spot, so I didn’t bother to dive in after it. Thankfully, her grandfather had an extra fishing pole. After a couple hours of fishing in two different spots, I was the only one that got a bite and no one caught anything. I got those bites using some nightcrawlers that Grandaddy brought. I then tried using a spinnerbait (i.e., a Rooster Tail), but had no success. It was a short fishing trip, but was very entertaining and we got to hang out with the family. I definitely need to brush up on my fishing knots.
