Spider Huntin’: A Family Affair
Tonight Jeff, Mom, Joe and I went searching for spiders. We joked and said (in a southern drawl) “We’s goin’ spider huntin.’” It was pretty fun. Despite the appearance of madness, Joe and I actually did have a purpose for “the hunt.” In a few weeks we will need some plant or animal tissue for a laboratory experiment in our biotech class, Molecular Methods: DNA. We will be writing our own protocol for the isolation of the DNA we collect from our spider. Actually, we caught three different spiders, but they all appeared to be the same species (Neoscona crucifera?). Anyway, we’ll let you know how the experiment goes.
