Greetings from Planet Jessie
I started classes last week. See “Our Schedule” to see what my classes are and when I’m working. It seems like it’s going to be the hardest semester ever. Then again, I say that at the beginning of every semester! No, REALLY, I’m pretty sure I am going to have 50+ hour weeks (including lectures, homework/reading, labs, writing lab reports, work at school, and cleaning the church). And that’s not to mention house work, church activities (lots), and working on maintaining my sanity. No really, I’m going to be o.k. Did that sound convincing? I hope so…urrarg! Ahhh…((Jessie takes a breather)) Alright, I’m done venting now.
Want to know what’s really going on? It’s my little sister’s birthday on Friday. She (Katelyn) will be 9 years old! She lives in South Carolina, so I probably won’t be able to see her. At least I’ll give her a call and (wink) perhaps a present. I know she isn’t a part of my daily life, but I love her and the rest of my family to death. I hate it that I’m missing out on their lives most of the time, and hate it that their missing out on mine (sniffle). Had enough drama yet?
I really don’t know what I’m going to do this weekend, probably study calculus or review general chemistry. It really isn’t a long enough break to take seriously. I’m trying to figure out whether or not I want to join KSU’s AMSA chapter (American Medical Student Association). Unfortunately they have their monthly meetings at a time during the week/day when I have to work. Also, NSCS (of which I am a member) just had their first meeting and (of course) I can’t go to that club either because it also takes place when I work.
Classes are going great. I like all my teachers (I’m into the “all of us have our Ph.D’s” stage now), and think I’ll probably enjoy genetics the best this semester. Dr. V is one tough cookie, but entertaining to the ears. It doesn’t hurt that the subject matter is incredibly interesting. Of all the lectures and labs, I am most intimidated by calc II. It probably won’t be so bad once I get used to it, but right now it feels like we’re in “buckle your seatbelts” mode. I’m just getting prepared for the ride… At least it is my last math course (not that I don’t like math). Speaking of…I have homework to do. I hope everyone is having a great week. Drop me a line anytime!
